Rangers victory over Falkirk showed why Andreas Skov Olsen has one foot out of the door at Ibrox

  • Andreas Skov Olsen was an unused sub against Falkirk on Sunday afternoon
  • Oliver Antman stepped up in his place and produced
  • The Gers have a huge decision to make on his future in the summer

Andreas Skov Olsen was an unused substitute in Rangers’ 6-3 away victory against Falkirk on Sunday.

The Danish winger has never truly fit into Danny Rohl’s system since joining on loan from Wolfsburg in January.

He only managed 45 minutes against Dundee United before failing to register a minute against Falkirk.

Rohl decided to play Finnish attacker Oliver Antman, who came on and made an impression in his short cameo.

This choice could shape Rangers’ approach to the upcoming split fixtures.

Has Skov Olsen’s career at Rangers ended already?

Was this the turning point for Skov Olsen at Rangers?

The 6-3 demolition of Falkirk on April 12 was the definitive moment for Skov Olsen.

When the game was surely won at 5-3, and the pressure was off, Danny Rohl didn’t turn to the Danish star.

There is no question he’s struggled to find his feet in the Premiership, registering one goal and three assists in eight games.

With Rangers racing to find more goals, it would have been the perfect time to build some confidence.

Instead, he chose Oliver Antman, who’d almost become a forgotten man at Ibrox.

Antman didn’t let his chance go to waste, rushing down the line to square the ball perfectly to Bojan Miovski to grab Rangers’ sixth.

Rohl called, and Antman answered, something Skov Olsen hasn’t been able to do in his Rangers career regularly.

Message received loud and clear.

By choosing Antman over Skov Olsen in a game where Rangers were already comfortable, Rohl sent a clear message to the board and the fans.

I trust Antman more than I do Skov Olsen.

We are no longer in the integration phase of Skov Olsen’s loan. We are in the evaluation phase, and he is failing the test.

If Rohl can’t trust him when the game is won, when will he be able to trust him in the five remaining games?

Antman is already a permanent Rangers player, signing from Go Ahead Eagles in the summer.

The Gers board has a decision to make on Olsen, who they have the option to sign for nearly £9 million.

However, the substitutions on Sunday tell the story that Rohl hasn’t got the Danish star in his plans.

Though only a small change on Sunday, I think Olsen staying on the bench is a clear message from Danny Rohl.

He wants to give Antman the chance to prove himself and send Skov Olsen back to Wolfsburg in the summer.

The Danish star has had his chance to settle in, but you can’t pinpoint any game in which he’d be worth £9 million.

Maybe the warm weather break could resurrect him, but it seems his chance has already passed at Ibrox.
