Andy Halliday has urged Derek McInnes to consider selling Nicolas Raskin and redirecting the money towards Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson as Rangers’ summer rebuild gathers pace.
The former Rangers midfielder made the call in comments reported by The Scottish Sun, arguing that Ferguson would fit the profile McInnes is likely to want at Ibrox.
Raskin Call Adds Early Transfer Pressure
Raskin is currently away with Belgium at the World Cup, where his profile has risen again after a positive substitute appearance against Egypt. Atalanta have also been credited with interest, which only sharpens the question of whether Rangers should cash in while the midfielder’s value is strong.
Halliday’s argument is not simply about moving a player on. It is about giving McInnes a midfielder with Scottish Premiership experience, Serie A pedigree and the leadership edge Ferguson has built at Bologna.
That would still be a difficult deal. Ferguson would not be cheap, and Rangers would need a major Raskin fee to make the idea realistic.
But the wider point lands. McInnes has inherited a squad that needs clarity quickly, and Raskin’s future is already one of the first major calls of the new era.
For Rangers, the decision is delicate: keep one of their more valuable midfielders, or turn outside interest into the kind of transfer budget that can reshape McInnes’ engine room before competitive football starts.
