- Bojan Miovski admits he wants more game time after spending much of the second half of last season on the bench.
- Lawrence Shankland’s arrival leaves the Macedonian facing increased competition alongside Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi.
- Miovski insists he remains determined to fight for his place but admits “you can’t rule out anything”.
Bojan Miovski has admitted he wants a bigger role at Rangers next season, but the striker faces an increasingly difficult route into Danny Rohl’s plans following the arrival of Lawrence Shankland.
The North Macedonian international scored 13 goals in his debut season at Ibrox despite limited opportunities. The former Aberdeen striker finishing as Rangers’ third-highest scorer behind Youssef Chermiti and James Tavernier.
However, his future has come under renewed scrutiny as the club reshapes their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Shankland’s arrival from Hearts has significantly altered the striking hierarchy. The Scotland international is expected to compete directly with Chermiti and Ryan Naderi for starting opportunities. Leaving Miovski facing the prospect of beginning the season as fourth-choice centre-forward.
Danilo remains further down the list of options than Miovski, but he will be allowed to leave Ibrox this summer.
Bojan Miovski voices Ibrox frustrations
That situation is unlikely to appeal to a player who has already voiced frustration over his lack of minutes during the second half of last season.
“I’m pleased with my goalscoring output considering my playing time,” Miovski told Flashscore.
“I believe that I lacked continuity and a run of matches in the starting lineup to find better rhythm and score more goals.
“I spent more time on the bench than on the pitch during the second half of the season, but I think that 13 goals overall is still a decent return.”
Despite acknowledging the competition for places at Rangers, Miovski made it clear he wants a more prominent role moving forward.
“Every player would like to play more and be in the starting lineup. Rather than on the bench,” he said.
“I’m a competitor and fighter and will always do my best both in training and matches to prove my worth.”
Bojan Miovski refuses to ‘rule out’ Rangers departure
Miovski stopped short of discussing any potential exit, but he hinted that regular football remains a priority.
“You can’t rule out anything,” he admitted.
“But I’ve got a three-year contract with Rangers and would definitely like to feature more prominently next season rather than sit on the bench.”

Miovski’s goal return suggests he remains a valuable option, but with Shankland arriving and Chermiti and Naderi ahead in the pecking order, the coming months could prove decisive in determining whether his future remains at Ibrox.
A player entering his prime years is unlikely to be content with a peripheral role for long. And Miovski’s comments leave the door open to further discussion if his situation fails to improve under Rohl.
