  • Oliver Antman struggled for impact after coming on in Finland’s 4-0 defeat to Germany in Mainz.
  • Aberdeen winger Topi Keskinen appears to have moved ahead of Antman in Finland’s right-wing pecking order.
  • Rangers are reportedly open to offers for Antman after an inconsistent debut season under Danny Rohl.

Oliver Antman endured a quiet afternoon as Finland were comfortably beaten 4-0 by Germany, with the Rangers winger introduced in the second half but unable to influence proceedings as Julian Nagelsmann’s side controlled the game from start to finish.

Deniz Undav’s double and assist underpinned a dominant German performance in their final warm-up ahead of the World Cup. With the visitors forced into long spells without possession and limited attacking threat throughout.

Oliver Antman struggles to make Finland impact

Antman was introduced with around 30 minutes remaining but struggled to find rhythm in a match already slipping away from Finland. With Germany dictating tempo and territory, the Rangers winger was largely restricted to defensive phases and isolated wide positions. Failing to make a decisive impact in the final third.

The performance adds to a mixed international campaign for the 24-year-old, who has yet to fully cement a starting role under Jacob Friis. Aberdeen winger Topi Keskinen now appears to have moved ahead of Antman in the pecking order on the right flank. With Antman used as a backup option on the left.

Oliver Antman left out by Danny Rohl

Antman’s international struggles come against the backdrop of a difficult club season at Rangers. Since Danny Rohl’s appointment in October, the winger has found starts increasingly limited. His most notable involvement coming in a high-pressure Old Firm defeat at Celtic Park as Rangers’ title hopes effectively collapsed.

That match, a 3-1 loss in which Antman was thrown into a hostile environment, underlined the inconsistency that has defined his debut season in Glasgow. His rhythm was further disrupted by a lack of sustained minutes, with form and confidence fluctuating across the campaign.

There were brief moments of contribution, including late assists against Falkirk, but overall, his impact remained sporadic.

Despite that, Antman has publicly backed Rohl’s influence at the club, crediting the manager with restoring confidence within the squad.

“The manager has done an incredible job getting the confidence back in the team. That’s the biggest thing,” he said.

“At the start when he came, he also had a couple of difficult games, but that’s always going to happen. But then we had a couple of good games and things turned around.”

However, Rangers are now understood to be open to offers for the winger this summer, with Club Brugge reported to be among the clubs monitoring his situation.

With Finland’s hierarchy shifting and Rangers assessing squad reshaping under Rohl, Antman’s future at both international and club level appears increasingly uncertain heading into a pivotal transfer window.
