Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are among a number of Premier League clubs tracking Rangers midfield prospect Calum Adamson, as interest grows in the 18-year-old ahead of a potentially decisive contract period at Ibrox.
The teenager, who is entering the final year of his current deal, has emerged as a long-term target for English top-flight sides. This comes following a standout loan spell with Alloa Athletic, where he gained his first sustained experience of senior football.
According to reports, both Palace and Forest have been scouting Adamson closely after an encouraging breakthrough campaign. One that highlighted his technical development and adaptability in a physically demanding environment.
Calum Adamson Alloa success story
Adamson spent last season on loan with Alloa as part of Rangers’ cooperation agreement with the League One club. Making 31 appearances across all competitions. Contributing eight goal involvements as he adjusted to the demands of regular first-team football at the Wasps.
Speaking previously about his development, Adamson described the loan as a key step in his progression.
“It’s a lot tougher and a lot different to youth football,” he said to the Daily Record.
“It’s obviously a lot more physical and everything that I’ve wanted it to be so far.”
The midfielder also highlighted the importance of the hybrid training structure between Alloa and Rangers. Which allowed him to balance senior football exposure with continued work at the club’s youth and senior facilities.
“I feel as if I’m getting to a point now where I’m confident going around there and I can keep up with the standards,” he added.
Calum Adamson aims for Ibrox breakthrough
Adamson’s progress has been closely monitored internally at Rangers. With the club viewing him as part of their emerging talent pathway. He has already featured on the bench and was described as overjoyed to have been trusted with first-team involvement.
“My aim is to get playing for a Rangers football club,” he said.
Rangers are understood to be keen to secure his long-term future with a new contract. With optimism that an agreement can still be reached despite external interest.
The club’s urgency is heightened by the growing attention from England, with Premier League sides believed to see Adamson as a high-upside development prospect rather than an immediate first-team signing.

His loan spell at Alloa is viewed as a significant success internally, with the midfielder adapting quickly to the physical and tactical demands of senior football while also contributing decisively in the final third.
Adamson himself has stressed his ambition to return to Ibrox and establish himself at first-team level, while acknowledging that continued development may still involve further loan experience depending on his progression.
The challenge now for Danny Rohl and Rangers is balancing that pathway with the reality of external interest. As they seek to retain one of their most promising academy graduates before his contract situation becomes more pressing.
The Gers have already tied up teenage trio Kyle Glasgow, Ashton Scally and Luca Rankin to long-term first-team deals.
Will Adamson be next, or will he be snatched away by the allure of the English top flight?
