MARK WARBURTON has revealed that despite being satisfied with his signings in this window, he WANTS to add a further six players to his squad this summer.
The Rangers boss last night got his top transfer target, Michael O’Halloran, but insists it will be this summer when his Ibrox revolution really gets started.
The ‘Gers manager says he got what he wanted from this transfer window as he eventually secured the signature of O’Halloran on a four-year deal for around £450,000.
Warburton made it transparent that him and light blues Chairman Dave King are on the same page when it comes to transfers despite the saga going on longer than expected.
He said: “I’ve always said we wanted one or two in.
“Harry Forrester has come in. Maciej Gostomski has come in for keeper cover to push Cammy Bell and Wes Foderingham.
“The Accrington boys, Josh Windass and Matt Crooks, are good business for the summer and we got the boys in we wanted.
“I’ve always said one or two. The chairman said he thinks we need five new players but he didn’t say in January.
“I agree with him and in the summer I will be looking to add at least another four to six players to the squad.”
O’Halloran will be added straight into Warburton’s squad for the Raith Rovers game tonight at Stark’s Park.
The manager added: “It took time to get everything sorted and these things do take time sometimes but he’ll be a good addition.
“He brings maturity. I know at 24 or 25 that sounds absurd but we’re a young team.
“It was more drawn out then we expected but we got the player and it had to be value for the club and right for St. Johnstone.
He also said the club were not ready to make Nicky Law part of the O’Halloran transfer.
He said: “Nicky has started five of the last six games for us so I was amazed to see those comments about him.
“He’s out of contract in the summer and he’s fighting for a new one.”
Steve Brown, St Johnstone chairman, said: “I’m satisfied with the transfer fee which reflects our full valuation of Michael.”
