Rangers 1 Hibs 2 was another bad result for Danny Rohl’s team, but the loss simply compounded another damaging night for the club.
Fans and observers were in disbelief as news filtered through that the club captain was not involved in the matchday squad.
It soon turned out that there were legs in the rumours of a spat between Rohl and Tavernier, and what unfolded was embarrassing for the club.
It was a sad way for James Tavernier to bring the curtain down on his time at Ibrox. Nobody comes out of it with credit.

Bad turned to worse, as another defeat unfolded, sending the collective mood of the fans into a further spiral.
Rangers 1 Hibs 2 – How the game unfolded
Hibs took a surprise lead inside five minutes when Jordan Obita crossed from the left and Martin Boyle finished with time and space to punish slack Rangers defending.
Despite the early setback, the hosts created the majority of chances throughout the first half.
Raphael Sallinger was in inspired form for Hibs, producing smart stops to deny a Manny Fernandez header, as well as four other efforts from the team.
Rangers were finally rewarded when Thelo Aasgaard unleashed a superb, unstoppable 20-yard free-kick into the top corner, levelling the score with a moment of real quality.
It’s frustrating that the Norwegian can do this, but not when it really matters.
Rangers fail to seize the opportunity again
Rangers were the better side overall but lacked a clinical edge. We’ve heard that before.
Second-half sub Bojan Miovski should have put the team ahead shortly after entering the play, only to blaze over from inside the area.
Sallinger continued to frustrate the home side with further excellent saves, including from Moore at the near post.
They grew more dangerous late on, sensing the chance to snatch a win.
In the final stages, Alexei Scarlett advanced down the hosts’ left side. As the space opened, he attacked the box and saw his cross-come-shot bundled over the line by Dane Scarlett to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory for the visitors.
Rangers 1 Hibs 2. The defeat confirmed further damage and pressure for Danny Rohl, which also marked the fourth consecutive league defeat for only the second time in the club’s history.
